Paul Signac captured a remarkably quiet midday moment in Place de Clichy using the Pointillist technique. Although a traveling fair was set up in the square, the carousel stands still and the booths are covered, creating a subdued atmosphere. Signac combined contrasting colors—blue and yellow, red and green—in dots to compose the scene. The stark difference between areas of sunlight and shadow vividly conveys the ambience of midday.
